Kingklip Carpaccio – Sauvignon Blanc 2019

with light smoked mussels and glazed nectarine

Notes: A vibrant styled Sauvignon Blanc, expressing layered notes of passion fruit, guava and pear. On the palate the wine confirms an array of tropical fruit, ripe fig and gooseberry aromas underscored by crisp minerality, leading to a gentle finish. A light fresh dish is the perfect partner for this crisp wine, with the slight smokiness from the mussels enhancing the already present fruit in the wine.

 

*Red Current Beef Tartar – Pinot Noir 2019

on bruschetta with beef cheek praline and parmesan crisp

Notes: In the wine delicate raspberry and fresh red cherry flavours are complemented by a touch of oak, rounding off the medium bodied mouthfeel. Both the dish and the wine are light but have enough body to fill that something you’ve been missing. The red currents in the tartar perfectly complement the red berry flavours found in the wine.

Breast of Duck – Merlot 2018

with rice noodle and broccoli stir fry and teriyaki sauce 

Notes: Beautiful on both nose and palate with hints of mint and violets, ripe raspberries, red cherry and black-currant. Subtle oak, with an intriguing complexity. This wine has a textured mid-palate outlining finely grained tannins, framing concentrated fruit flavours. Great savoury notes in the dish once again brings out an extraordinary fruitful experience.

*Springbok Wellington – Grand Classique 2016

complemented by a duo of cauliflower and red wine jus

Notes: This wine displays integrated cassis and blackberry fruits with hints of cinnamon and spice on the nose. It exhibits ripe and concentrated fruit with cherry and chocolate flavours on the palate. It has a long finish, balanced by fine tannins, a rich texture and subtle acidity. The melt in your mouth springbok with the earthy flavours from the cauliflower and spinach forms a pairing that transports you to your happy place.

 

*Cassata – “The Welder” 2016

with berries, apricot and white chocolate

Notes: Bright and vibrant on both the nose and palate, this wine shows concentrated flavours of dried apricots, ripe orange and honey, with hints of white flower blossom. The acidity still present in this dessert wine, perfectly complements the creaminess of the Cassata. Enhancing the light nuttiness you get from the wine is pistachios, to create a sweet but not overly so ending.
