Meet The Team

Murray joined the team with much enthusiasm on 1 February 2014.
With extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Murray now stands at the helm of Winchester Mansions with a confident vision to maintain and expand on the excellence that guests have come to know at Winchester Mansions and Harveys Restaurant.
Murray has a Diploma in Hotel Management and has gained valuable skills and experience at a number of four- and five-star hotels across South Africa as well as at a Michelin starred restaurants in London. He has fulfilled the role of GM at three hotels, most recently at The Cape Milner Hotel where he spent 12 years, and views the privilege of joining Winchester Mansions as an exciting new chapter.
With an impressive set of skills, Murray brings a positive offering to the table at Winchester Mansions where he will manage all aspects of the hotel, as well as Harveys Restaurant.
It is a great honour to join such a reputable Cape Town hotel and to have the opportunity to uphold the fantastic name that Winchester Mansions has gained over the years. I look forward to the adventure that the Winchester team and I are about to embark on,” comments Murray Nell, GM at Winchester Mansions.


Niall, born and raised in Cape Town, has an unrivalled passion for the enjoyment of good food and drink.  This enthusiasm bubbles over into the rest of his team and his natural mirth and loud, flamboyant nature is infectious. He shares this lust for life with others as he strives to put a personal touch on every experience at Harveys restaurant, a place created ‘for the love of good food and drink’.
LORNA WATTS                        FINANCIAL MANAGER
Lorna joined Winchester Mansions in December 2012 as Financial Manager, overseeing the financial operations and reporting for the company. Lorna has extensive experience in finance covering various industries and over 13 years experience in the hospitality industry. She is qualified with a BCom - Financial Management degree.

Lorna is passionate about the industry and her interests away from the office include wildlife and travelling.

Karen has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. She enjoys working with people, is highly motivated and is very passionate about the role she and her team play at Winchester Mansions. She thrives on making every guest's experience a memorable one and expects nothing less from her team. Karen has joined Winchester Mansions from the Protea Group where she has worked as their Executive Housekeeper for many years.
Proudly German bred Jochen Riedel started his career in Germany where he worked at many different Michelin star restaurants. He moved to South Africa in 1995 where he worked at the Grande Roche in Paarl for 14 and a half years. He prefers cosmopolitan style cooking which can be seen in the diverse menus he has created for Harveys.

Karen started her career in 1989 at the Cape Sun Hotel and moved into Public Relations and Sales and Marketing. She has worked for various hotel groups as well as smaller independent hotels. With 26 years of experience in the hotel industry Karen is confident that she will be able to add value to the Team at Winchester Mansions and looks forward to promoting the hotel to our existing as well as new clients.
Jacqueline started her career as a receptions and moved her way up in the industry. She has a diploma in hotel management and over 9 years’ experience as a revenue manager. Jacqueline is highly motivated and passionate about her job and the part she plays in the team. She strives to meet and exceed both guest and clients expectations.
Sheldon has more than 18 years experience in the building industry. He is a qualified carpenter and spent over 9 years as a roofer. He has managed numerous building and renovation projects in and around Cape Town. Sheldon has a great understanding of building standards and regulations and he feels that his vast experience enables him to take care of every maintenance aspect at Winchester Mansions.
Jami first started her hospitality career at a the Four Pillars Hotel Tortworth Court in Gloustershire United Kingdom. She returned to South Africa to finish her studies by achieving an Advance Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management. jami then started off as a receptionist which is where her passion grew for the Front Desk. She worked for the Protea Group for over 6 year where she worked herself up to an Assistant Front Office Manager.

She absolutely loves working with guests and strive to meet guests expectations from the moment they enter the front door of the hotel. Jami's passion lies in working with her staff and ensuring they all work as a team towards one goal.
