Allow us to start your week completely relaxed while the live Jazz band sets the mood.
On 30th July 2017 we welcome

Graham Burton - Actor, singer and songwriter Graham Burton feels at home in front of a camera as well as a microphone. He has had the privilege of singing with the best musicians Cape Town has to offer. Graham Burton says: ‘Winchester Mansions’ Sunday Jazz Brunch is one of the best gigs south of the equator.’
Willie van Zyl is probably the most ' in demand ' musician in the Cape, not only as a ' live ' performer, but a studio musician as well. Almost every radio and T.V. jingle with sax/clarinet/penny whistle is the result of Willie van Zyl's virtuosity on these instruments !
He began his musical studies at the tender age of seven, learning to play the saxophone, clarinet, oboe and violin. Willie's outstanding musical ability was soon discovered which resulted in performances and recordings with many artists inside and outside South Africa.
He is a soloist in his own right having performed at the ' Symphonic Pop' concerts in recent years. As light music band master of the SA Navy Band, Willie has performed for many state functions which have included Nelson Mandela and President Clinton.
Gary Deacon is an award-winning Jazz and bass guitarist, who is in demand as a freelance musician for numerous ensembles, jazz groups and function bands.
He started playing the guitar at an early age under the guidance of his father, professional guitarist and teacher, Arthur Deacon, and obtained numerous awards during the early years, including a Gold Diploma for outstanding performance on solo classical guitar. He fast developed the reputation of being Cape Town’s top session guitarists / bass guitarists, and apart from various appearances on SABC TV, he has recorded/composed numerous projects for the SABC, Fine Music Radio, commercial CD’s, advertising jingles and film music.
Gary has been teaching guitar and bass guitar at the SA College of Music, Jazz Studies Department, University of Cape Town since 1992.
Veteran drummer Maurice Gawronsky left South Africa in 1957 on a 3 months holiday and ended up staying in England and Europe for 8.5 years playing drums with some of the most exciting Jazz Musicians of that era, notably the legendary Stan Getz, Oscar Pettiford, Don Byas and Dudley Moore amongst many others. In 2009 he was asked to perform with his band at the International Jazz Festival in Cape Town which was a resounding success. For the past 14 years Maurice has been in charge of organising Cape Town’s best jazz musician to play at Winchester Mansions’ famous Jazz Brunch, contributing to one of the hotel’s outstanding achievement.
