| All funds raised by participating restaurants were officially handed over to the StreetSmart patron Desmond M Tutu Archbishop Emeritus on 28 November for distribution to the various beneficiary organisations. StreetSmart South Africa was founded in 2005 by Margi Biggs in an effort to raise funds used to enable street children to live a viable life in society. Operated along the same lines as in the United Kingdom, San Francisco and Melbourne, it is a non-profit organisation. “StreetSmart’s goal is to be part of the process of social normalisation. Our long-term vision is to expand StreetSmart South Africa into all major cities,” says Nils Heckscher, Managing Director of Winchester Mansions and member of the StreetSmart Board of Directors. Participating restaurants display the StreetSmart card on the table to inform guests of a voluntary R5.00 donation that will be added to their bill giving them the option to donate more than R5.00 or not at all. The Winchester Mansions contributes additional funds to StreetSmart by donating the proceedings from auctioning off wines from featured winemaker at their monthly Grapes, Gourmet and Gallery evenings. StreetSmart raised more than R1 million since its inception in 2005 and held their annual stakeholders event at the Winchester Mansions to celebrate the valued support of their top restaurant contributors. Harveys restaurant at the Winchester Mansions proudly contributed R52 902.60 during 2008 and continues to support this initiative whilst encouraging neighbouring hotels and restaurants to participate. All funds raised through the restaurants have been donated to The Homestead, Ons Plek and Learn to Live, all charities who work with children living on the street. |

| The Hotels Housing Trust working together with Habitat for Humanity, South Africa, raises money through tourism to assist poor communities to build their own homes under special guidance from experienced builders, community leaders and both International and South Africa volunteers who help to build. The Hotels Housing Trust was started in 1998. Visitors from the UK, with connections to the Gatsby Family Charitable Trust, who wanted to do something to help provide housing for destitute shack dwellers who live near the airport and the outskirts of the City of Cape Town. A brochure is put into hotel rooms in Cape Town and hopefully in the near future in Johannesburg & Durban. It offers guests an opportunity to contribute towards housing for the poor and needy. Every cent of the donation goes towards building houses as all the administration costs of the Hotels Housing Trust are raised through independent fund raising. We are currently supported by a group of dedicated hotels in Cape Town. We would like to encourage other hotels and tourism partners nationally to join us and support our cause. To-date, over 2 Million Rand has been raised through the brochure and it has been used to fund the building of 136 homes in the Victoria Mxenge Village in Philippi, the building of a crèche in Victoria Mxenge in Philippi, the building of 8 homes, via Habitat for Humanity South Africa, in Mfuleni. |

| Oasis Recycling Project |
www.oasisrecycling.co.za |
Moderate, mild, severe or profound intellectual disability affects approximately 3% of all people worldwide. In 1952 a group of parents found a solution to the problem of their children being excluded from mainstream society when they started their own school – an oasis – for children with intellectual disability. Oasis Association addresses two of the international 'three R' (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle) approaches towards waste minimisation. In other words, we focus on re-using (thanks to our shops) and recycling. Your company’s waste can provide work and income for those who need it most. By supporting the Oasis Recycling and Waste Management projects, you will not only be making a positive contribution towards the environment but you will also be allowing people with intellectual disability to access scarce employment opportunities. Winchester Mansions donates all our paper and boxes to Oasis for recycling. The monies collected for these recyclable resources is donated to the Oasis School.
